Music at Holy Rosary
Paul G. Dolejsi, Pastoral Assistant for Music
Music ministers lead and support the singing of the assembly at mass. Opportunities are available to sing in our choirs, as well as to cantor at any of our masses. Musicians are always very welcome to share their gifts on instruments such as piano, guitar, flute/woodwinds, violin or other strings, trumpet and brass, drums and percussion. All are welcome!
8:00 am Sunday Morning Mass
Our first Sunday morning music ministry is led by cantor and organist/pianist. The music is welcoming and familiar, with both traditional and contemporary hymns. These fine music ministers will help you begin the Lord's Day with a heart full of praise!
9:30 am Sunday Choir & Ensemble;
5pm Saturday Vigil Mass
Paul Dolejsi 935-8353 (parish office)
Our large ensemble & choir leads the singing at the 9:30 am Sunday morning mass, and the 'Vigilites' lead the music at the 5:00pm Saturday Vigil Mass.
All of our music ministers strive to lead and support the voice of the assembly.
Our choirs include a number of excellent cantors and our ensembles feature piano, guitar, bass guitar, pedal steel, flute and percussion. There are many opportunities for singers and instrumentalists at all of our parish masses.
A joyful heart, a prayerful attitude and a willingness to serve are all you need to participate in music ministry. As Elaine Rendler, a prominent Catholic music minister has stated so well: "Our mission in music ministry is to serve the people of God through the gift of music and thus to further the mission of Christ in the world." Music Ministry at Holy Rosary is a great way for you to share your musical gifts with your parish community!
Parish Children's Choir
Paul Dolejsi 935-8353 (parish office)
The Holy Rosary Parish Children's Choir is comprised of students in grades 3-5. Students come from Holy Rosary and many local schools and join together in their love of singing!
The choir sings at Mass to lead and support the singing of the assembly, the same as our adult choirs. In doing so, our children are learning to become music ministers--our future leaders of song and prayer! They also learn that their talents are gifts from God to be given back in service to the parish community.
We practice on Tuesday afternoons in the church from 3-4pm (cantors also practice from 4-4:30). We sing for Sunday Mass about once a month, including Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday. The Children's Choir is a great way for your child to learn how to be a music minister and to be actively involved at mass!
Teen Music Group
Paul Dolejsi 935-8353 (parish office)
Our parish teens provide music ministry at the Sunday 5pm evening mass about once a month during the school year. Our junior and senior high teens come from local middle schools and various high schools. Their role at mass is to lead the singing, minister as cantors and even play some of the instruments!
Our music comes from the best contemporary composers, but also includes familiar Catholic songs so that all feel welcome to participate. Music practice is prior to Sunday evening mass at 4:15 in the church. All parish teens and those who like Spirit-filled music are invited to participate.
Come and be a part of this vibrant music ministry!
11:30 am Choir
Bob Ingalls
The 11:30 am choir is a group of singers from the parish that specializes in four-part choral literature spanning five centuries, from the Renaissance to the present day. This Holy Rosary Church choir is considered to be one of the finest Catholic Church choirs in all of western Washington. We currently have twenty singers, some of whom have been part of the choir for over thirty years.
Members of the traditional choir are ministers in every sense of the term. Our mission is to support the voice of the assembly at mass and to provide music to reinforce the messages contained in the readings and the Gospel. We rehearse from 7:15 -9:00 PM on Tuesday Evenings in the church sanctuary. On Sunday mornings we meet at 10:15 AM in the convent chapel to prepare for singing at the 11:30 mass.
