 Baptism Team

Holy Rosary offers preparation classes for those parents wishing to have their infants/young children under the age of seven baptized in the Catholic faith. Members of the Baptism Team help facilitate the preparation classes offered for parents.  In addition to classes, members of the team greet and assist parents at the Sunday liturgy in which the child is baptized. The time commitment of Baptism Team Greeters is once a month at certain Masses.  click here to volunteer.

 Children's Liturgy of the Word

During the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass (October through May), elementary school age children are dismissed after the opening prayer to celebrate the Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) appropriate for their age level and return to the Mass following the homily. Children are divided into three groups according to their school grade and each group is assigned a leader:

Group 1- Preschool & Kindergarten
Group 2- 1st and 2nd grade
Group 3- 3rd grade and older

No liturgical experience or training is necessary, only a commitment to serve as a CLOW leader or assistant at the 9:30 a.m. Mass once or twice a month. The format for CLOW is in place and leaders and assistants use prepared material for each Sunday’s readings and guided discussion. Please consider becoming a leader or assistant (especially if your child attends CLOW) as this program cannot continue without volunteers -or in other words, while the harvest is truly great, the laborers are few.  click here to volunteer

Adult Confirmation

Every two years Holy Rosary offers a series of sessions to prepare adults who have not yet been confirmed for the Sacrament of Confirmation. The sessions focus on the Rite of Confirmation itself while also connecting Confirmation to the other two sacraments of initiation: Baptism and Eucharist. Holy Rosary staff and parish volunteers facilitate the sessions. The ministerial requirements are a desire to work with adults in their sacramental formation as well as good listening skills and small group facilitation skills.  Confirmation candidates also need sponsors, i.e. other adult Catholics who are willing to be a companion to the Confirmation candidate during the process of preparation. Good listening skills, an ability to be present to the candidate and a willingness to share faith are pluses for Confirmation sponsors.

High School Confirmation

Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, Catholics are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. They become true witnesses of Christ, spreading his message by the way in which they live their lives. Anyone who is a junior or senior in high school and baptized may be confirmed. There is a year-long formation process that culminates with the Mass of Confirmation, celebrated with the Archbishop or one of our Auxiliary Bishops, during the Easter season. Volunteers are needed to act as sponsors for those being Confirmed.

Children's Faith Formation (preschool - high school)

Holy Rosary offers faith formation classes on Sunday mornings for children who do not attend a Catholic School. The classes are offered from October through May with adult volunteers teaching the class. A desire to work with children in passing on the faith is a definite requirement in this ministry. User friendly program materials are used to assist the volunteer teachers. Our Sunday faith formation program has a variety of opportunities for volunteers which include a need for administrative, behind the scenes work such as helping to prepare for parent meetings, working in the office on Sunday mornings while classes are in session. click here to volunteer.

Reconciliation/First Communion

Each year Holy Rosary prepares a group of young parishioners for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. The actual preparation classes are facilitated by parish staff but administrative and hospitality ministers are also required in order to have a welcoming and successful ministry. Hospitality help is needed in planning receptions and parent meetings. S

Holy Rosary Engaged

Holy Rosary Engaged is a program of discernment and preparation for Catholic Marriage. Meetings are held in the Fall and Spring or as needed. Sponsor Couples are always needed. Time commitment varies.

RCIA for Adults

The Rite of Christian Initiation is the process the Church has in place for initiating new members, seven years of age and older, into the Catholic Church. Holy Rosary offers year round preparation sessions in which children and adults are either prepared for Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist or for a Profession of Faith, Confirmation and Eucharist, if the candidate is already one with us in Baptism.

A variety of ministers are needed in Christian Initiation: facilitators for the preparation sessions, dismissal catechists for Sunday liturgies, hospitality ministers and sponsors for the catechumens and candidates. Christian initiation ministers need good listening skills, a desire to work with children or adults preparing to come into the church and a willingness to learn themselves. Ministers are needed for both adults and children. The qualities of a sponsor are a desire to be a companion to a prospective member of the church, good listening skills, ability to share faith and to be present to the candidate in their journey.

RCIA for Children

Each year Holy Rosary prepares a group of young parishioners (7 years and older) for the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. This is a very rich ministry and a year of catechist “apprenticeship” to learn the program, helps volunteers in this ministry to understand the depth of the Rites and Sacraments. click here to volunteer

Returning Catholics

At various times during the year Holy Rosary offers a series of sessions to help the returning Catholic come back to the sacraments and regular church attendance. Sessions on the Mass, Liturgy and the Eucharist, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, prayer and scripture are among the topics covered. In addition there is an opportunity for participants to share their stories. Holy Rosary staff and volunteers facilitate the sessions. The ministerial needs for the Returning Catholics team are good listening skills, a non-judgmental attitude and a comfort level in facilitating small groups.
